Air Conditioning Installation and Service

Keep cool with Servco Oil & Propane

When summer heat waves hit, you need air conditioning to make your Fairfield County home more comfortable.

However, it’s important to be aware that window air conditioners are an inefficient way of maintaining a comfortable temperature. Window air conditioning units are frustrating to install and remove each season. They can be unsightly, as well as a security risk. A window air conditioner blocks natural light while allowing dust, pollen and insects to enter.

What are ductless mini-splits?

If you use a boiler to heat your home, it may be difficult and very costly to add central air conditioning because of the lack of ductwork.

Ductless mini-splits, also called heat pumps, are a cost-effective option. They use 40% less energy than window units. You can also zone your cooling for even better energy efficiency.

Mini-splits have an outdoor compressor and a separate indoor heating unit, which houses the evaporator. The two are connected with a conduit.

The role of the compressor is to compress refrigerant into a liquid, and then send it off to the evaporator. The heat is sent out of the unit into the outdoor air. The refrigerant, now a liquid, flows through the conduit to the air handler. The refrigerant in your air handler absorbs heat from the indoor air blown over the evaporator coils. The resulting cooled air is transferred back into your home.
