As of July 1, Servco Oil & Propane has increased the biofuel blend in our heating oil from 5% (B5) to 10% (B10). This change follows new state requirements in Connecticut and New York, where all heating oil must now include at least 10% biofuel.
No stress, no changes — your current heating system is already compatible with Bioheat® fuel. That means you can keep the comfort you’re used to while enjoying the benefits of cleaner, greener energy.
By moving to B10, Servco Oil & Propane customers are helping cut emissions and reduce the use of millions of gallons of traditional heating oil each year. The impact? Cleaner air for our communities and the carbon-reduction equivalent of making more than 100,000 homes carbon neutral.
Bioheat® fuel blends ultra-low sulfur heating oil with renewable biofuel made from resources like soybean oil, inedible corn oil, and recycled cooking oil. By putting these surplus feedstocks to work, Bioheat® reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% compared to petroleum diesel.
Higher blends mean even greater benefits. The industry is on track to steadily increase levels — with Connecticut set to reach B15 by 2030, B20 by 2034, and B50 by 2035 — all working toward a net-zero carbon future by 2050.
Upgrading from B5 to B10 is more than a state requirement — it’s a big step toward a cleaner energy future. At Servco Oil & Propane, we’re committed to meeting these new standards while continuing to deliver the reliable service and comfort you count on.
By choosing Bioheat® fuel, you’re not just heating your home — you’re helping create a healthier environment for generations to come.
